Basically me the entire time.
But it would of been neat if they also tested a turbo’d car and/or something with a big honking V8/10/12/16.
TL;DR: if you have a modern NA car cutting the cat only makes it smelly.

No cat - good luck with that carbon monoxide poisoning.

Seems like manufacturers are already incorporating all the easy stuff that used to be must-have mods. Like CAIs. Aftermarket ones are pretty much pointless now that cars are coming from the factory with literal cold air intakes . Aren’t all modern OE catalytic converters already “high-flow” units too?

ye basically all OE cats are the matrix type and not the pellet cats of yester-year.

...Catted cars will still kill the fuck out of you with Carbon Monoxide. Carbon Dioxide and Carbon Monoxide are two different things.

Weird that stock unit unit was surprisingly good compared to the other.
My trackday project Vectra doesn’t have a catalytic converter as it’s from the last year (‘89) when Vectras weren’t yet “low emission” vehicle. Its engine management doesn’t even have a lambda sensor to monitor the mixture.
But after I changed the engine into a more powerful one I’m going to give it a catalytic converter and a bit more sophisticated engine management.
